Compete in UREC’s Power Lifting Competition – Raise the Gold Bar!

Event Information:

Saturday, April 6th from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM
SAC Fitness Center

  • Competitor Check-In/Warm-Up: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
  • Competition: 1:00 PM - 5:30 PM
  • Winners Announced: 5:30 PM

Competition Details:

The competition will consist of Squats, Bench and Deadlift. Competitors will receive 3 attempts per lift. Spotters will be present to ensure the safety of our participants. Each lift will also have a judge - competitors must receive a signal from the judge to signify successful completion of the lift and earn credit for the attempt. If the judge does not signal success, the attempt will not count. Participants are able to choose the lifts they want to compete in.

Prizes will be awarded to the winner of each weight class. There will also be one male and one female winner based one the Wilks score for the combined weight lifted in all three lifts.

Registration is limited to 40 competitors and is required to participate in the event. Individuals registering after the competition limit has been reached will be added to a waitlist. Those on the waitlist are encouraged to attend the event, as spots may become available the day of the event and will be filled on a first come, first served basis from the list. The event is offered to students at no additional charge. The fee for faculty/staff members is $10. This fee remains the same, regardless of the number of lifts attempted. Faculty/Staff participants must hold a Gold Membership or pay the additional guest fee ($5) to enter the facility and participate in the competition.

We will have two timeslots for the workshop. Session 1 (12pm-1pm) for beginners to learn the 3 power lifts (Squats, Bench and Deadlift). Sessions 2 (1pm-2pm) for intermediate to advanced lifters.
