UPDATE EFFECTIVE BEGINNING MONDAY, 11/30
DUE TO NEW STATE GUIDELINES, MASKS ARE REQUIRED AT ALL TIMES IN UREC (REGARDLESS OF ACTIVITY).
As much as we would love to open our doors to everyone at once, we will be implementing procedures and capacity restrictions to maintain safety guidelines per the state and university. The safety of our campus community is of the utmost importance to us and we ask that you carefully read through the updates so that you are prepared for when you arrive. We appreciate your consideration and cooperation.
UREC will have student staff rotating through all zones of the facility each day maintaining a cleaning schedule for equipment, day-use cubbies, and fitness accessories. We will close Monday - Friday from 2pm - 3pm to clean the facility and will be closing early Sunday - Friday to ensure additional time to deep clean the facility. We will limit the number of individuals in the facility and remove certain pieces of equipment from circulation each day, in order to adhere to social distancing guidelines. You will also see that we have added directional signage throughout the building, designating entrances and exits, in order to limit the usage of high traffic areas. We recommend that vulnerable populations utilize level 5 of the University Recreation Center at non-peak times.
While we have implemented a strict cleaning and distancing policy, we cannot maintain the facility without your help! Patrons will be required to wipe down all equipment and fitness accessories after every use. You can also help by avoiding the facility if you are feeling ill or if you have been in contact with someone that is ill.
University Recreation will operate at a significantly reduced capacity for the fall semester. Each floor will have a specific capacity limit, which will be monitored by UREC staff. If a particular floor has reached capacity, you will be asked to utilize another floor in the meantime. Certain pieces of equipment will also be offline each day, in order to maintain at least 6ft of distance between patrons.
We encourage patrons to come to the facility dressed to workout in order to limit interaction in the locker room areas. Additionally, we recommend that all patrons arrive at the facility with a plan for their workout and to limit sessions to 60 minutes or less.
Due to new state guidelines, masks are required at all times within the facility regardless of activity! This change is effective as of Monday, 11/30.
Yes! To ensure we have additional time to deep clean the facility, the University Recreation Center will close Monday - Friday from 2pm to 3pm and close early on Sunday - Friday. Please see our hours page for the most up-to-date hours.
Due to its seasonal nature, the outdoor pool is now closed for the remainder of the year.
Yes, we will offer a variety of ways to participate in group fitness, including continued virtual options, indoor classes, and pop-up outdoor classes. Capacity is limited for all class types, except virtual, so you will need to sign up ahead of time to save your spot.
At this time, we are unable to offer a full fall lineup due to ever-changing guidance regarding contact sports and distancing. However, our Intramural Sports team has made every effort to adjust the fall offerings to include sports, alternative programming, and virtual options that adhere to distancing practices.
All travel, including home and away games and scrimmages have been postponed for the fall semester. Any club wishing to hold in-person meetings or practices will need to submit a socially distanced practice plan to the Assistant Director for Sport Clubs. Prior approval must be given for the return to in-person activities and activities will be limited to non-contact practices, drills, and meetings that adhere to social distancing.

All current memberships have been extended by 182 days - the total number of days that the facility was closed due to COVID. If you do not intend to return to the facility in the fall semester, please visit our Refund Policy for additional information.

*Faculty and Staff will still be able to purchase a guest pass for themselves.
